Sustainability fun fact: Local artists are leading the way to sustainability in San Jose. The city recently announced a new program, San Jose Climate Art, that engages artists, creative producers and culture-makers to lead the way to carbon neutrality. In their pilot year, the program is developing a Resilient Artist Cohort, Carbon Neutral Creative Network and Resource hub to help raise awareness about carbon neutrality in San Jose.

Sustainability fun fact: Sacramento, known to some as the “city of trees,” will be expanding its tree repertoire thanks to a grassroots effort called The Meadowview Urban Tree Project (MUTP). The MUTP volunteers are removing stumps, planting trees and teaching residents how to care for trees in South Sacramento.

To reduce pollution in the Duwamish Valley, Seattle launched an electric truck pilot program aimed at replacing many of the 4,000 diesel drayage trucks that transport goods from cargo ships to rail yards in the area.
